Lake Abhe - very volcanic area on Western border of Djibouti

After 3 hours driving we left the road for 40 miles across desert and ADVENTURE!

Arriving in an area where hot springs pushed up from below.

Did I mention hot springs can undermine a road!  Stuck in the mudd and a flat tire, at a different location,
and yes I was driving the whole way.

The hot springs push up alot of mudd

Forming these columns all around the area.

Water bubbling up at a boil.

Another boiling spring.
Shepard children walking with us.

Lake Abhe shrinking continuously.

Lake Abhe Hotel....we didn't stay the night.

Lake Abhe Hotel Dining Room....really good tea.

Ostrich....yes some are indiginous to Africa.
This crash wasn't my fault!  Closed the whole road so we were in 4 WD to get around.
